ENNEAGRAM: Overture

Dear, you

This past month, I have become significantly more reserved, possessed by nerves which I have been unable to control. To which I have alluded to the result of the release of Zakonna Mavid’s introductory collection being available to you.

I have hidden away years worth of posthumous collections away from the prying public eye, which I have no intentions of releasing, merely because I no longer feel that they are relevant to both you the observer and me, the study. Every collection is a diary entry, a snapshot to emotion or event, in my life which has significant importance at the time of creation. I instinctually use Fashion as a catalyst to understand feelings which I have often mistaken for intellect. At first, sight appears to be too immense or even overwhelming to understand.

I’ve struggled with keeping within the restraints of a traditional Fashion collection. Here is the set number of garments within a Fashion collection, which all relates to an apparent theme. To be released upon the said week, stated by the greater gods of the Fashion hierarchy.

In the beginning, I pondered the conspicuous, is this me succumbing to the lost angst of youth, and rebelling against the system, or naively suffocating in narcissistic, self-importance? I guess, at its heart, I am unable to dissociate myself from the singular entity that is myself, at present.

Bygone collections have habitually enabled me to let someone else wear the mask of self-expression; an ageing beauty queen, a suicidal starlet. Yet I have been unable to detach myself from the writer and the actor, no matter what actress plays the part. I am the tri being; self director, writer and actor drowning in torturous seas and high water, of my self-awareness.

At first analysis, my emotions appear too complicated, too unruly to be confined into the Bauhaus box. A box crafted for me, and others of the Fashion world, to fit inside. Henceforth,

ENNEAGRAM

Enneagram will be a 9 part Demi Couture, Womenswear collection. Each fraction will be a dedication to each of the nine individual personality types.

Type 1: The Reformer/Perfectionist

Type 2: The Giver

Type 3: The Achiever

Type 4: The Individualist/Romantic

Type 5: The Investigator/Observer

Type 6: The Loyalist/Skeptic

Type 7: The Enthusiast/Epicure

Type 8: The Challenger/Protector

Type 9: The Peacemaker/Mediator

Each division of the collection will be a break down of the nine archetypes of the human psyche, an exploration in how they interconnect in ways both complementary and dissonant.

These Enneagrams will initially be treated as individual properties, exploring the healthy and unhealthy sides that the archetype can possess. I will also begin to develop relationships with each Enneagram so that I can see my self-correlations. Deciphering my aspirations to be more understanding of and to be able to possess qualities of other Enneagrams I have since been unable to understand.

Each part will be accompanied with a Diary entry (blog post) discussing my findings on the archetype and a reflection on the pieces released.

Some treat Enneagrams as gospel truth to teach, live and judge oneself and others. However, others see it as sheer pseudo. I, myself am not part of the cult motivation of self-understanding confined into nine set categories. But, as a catalyst for understanding my most current state of constant emotion and creative cinema, Enneagrams will serve as the most delectable device.

I am fully immersed into this vast project, what’s more, I hope to share Part 1 and the ever-nearing imminent divisions soon.
